New BlackBerry to be called the Z10

We have been referring to the touch-screen handset as the L-Series for some time now, but the first BlackBerry 10 smartphone might well have a very different name at launch.

That new name is said to be the rather unexciting BlackBerry Z10. That's according to the Unwired View site, which seems to have acquired some publicity material for the new BB10 phone, showing that new name and also shows two colour options, black and white.

There isn't any such detail for the QWERTY-clad BB10 handset, but the same source seems to be under the impression that it will be called the X10. That could be guesswork though, so we'll stick to N-Series for now.

Of course, we'll find out for sure at the end of January, when BlackBerry 10 gets its official launch. The finished phone has already been caught on camera and is expected to launch with a 4.2-inch display with a 1280 x 768 resolution, an 8-megapixel camera with auto-focus and flash on the rear of the phone, along with a 2-megapixel networking camera and 1080p video recording.

We'll be there on 30 January to get official confirmation of that.
