Samsung Galaxy Grand gets an official launch

Samsung has launched yet another Galaxy, this time a phone called the Samsung Galaxy Grand.

Grand by name, but perhaps not by nature. This seems to be Samsung offering a big screen phone for anyone who doesn't want to pay out a small fortune for a Galaxy Note II. The result is plenty of screen, but a rather modest overall specification. But it still has a 5-inch screen, which has to be a selling point.

That screen has WVGA 480x800 resolution, which is some way off the Note II, with the Grand also offering a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash, 8GB of storage and Android Jelly Bean for the operating system. Finishing things off is a 2-megapixel networking camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and A-GPS. You can opt for a single or dual-SIM model, but we suspect only the former will make it here.

Talking of here, nothing has been confirmed as yet for a UK launch, but it is likely to appear here - and soon. When it does, we have this pegged as a mid-range handset, which should have a price to match.
