Instagram and Twitter seem to having a spat right now, which means you can't see your Instagram photos automatically in your Twitter feed right now. The arrival of Instagram-like filters on Twitter are unlikely to heal that ongoing rift.Obviously Twitter doesn't mention the word 'Instagram', but we know where this new addition to the mobile apps (iOS and Android) is coming from. Starting today, you’ll be able to edit and refine your photos via Twitter. You can apply one of eight filters, ranging from black and white to vintage, browsing the effects of each filter in a single grid view, or swiping through looks to compare options. In addition, you can crop and pinch to zoom in order to focus attention and auto-enhance light and colours, if your original snap didn't quite come out as you planned. All of which is likely to increase Twitter's appeal compared to the Facebook-owned Instagram. Of course, Instagram will still have its fans, especially as its 'community' is very different to Twitter and more focused on those photos. But with Twitter moving in on its territory, Instagram will probably need to up its game to keep Twitter at arm's length in the coming months.
