Will.i.am foto.sosho boosts your iPhone camera

If you hop into Selfridges in London soon, you might be tempted to boost your phone with a new range of accessories. At least, you will if you have an iPhone.

That range comes from musician and producer Will.i.am, who is promising to turn your iPhone into a 'fashionable camera' by adding the foto.sosho add-on. That gadget comes with interchangeable lenses and a built-in flash, with photo editing, filters and sharing built in.  It also transforms the 8-megapixel smartphone camera into a 14-megapixel camera, enhancing the clarity and definition of your snaps. All of which sounds very impressive.

If you want one, versions for the iPhone 4 will be available from 6 December, but an iPhone 5 model, which replaces the entire iPhone camera with a new sensor and flash, will not ship until next year. So you can scratch that off your Christmas list.

Those versions differ in terms of finish too, so you'll have to think about your 'look' before you buy. A total of four models will include standard, fish-eye, wide and zoom lenses, with contemporary and vintage models for iPhone 4 and 5 called the C.4 and V.4 and C.5 and V.5.

It all sounds like a lot of fun, especially for the keen mobile snapper. The downside is the price. The i.am+ C.4 unit 'Modern Look' will sell for £199, while the white V.4 model with gold trim and a 'Vintage Look' will sell for £299. That seems a lot for boosting a few photos. But if you are the kind of person who loves a flaunting the latest hipster kit, you know where to go.
