Huawei is releasing a new wallet-friendly media and gaming phone, the Huawei Ascend G330, just in time for Christmas. The Huawei Ascend G330 is a dual-core smartphone with a pleasingly bright and vibrant 4-inch screen, a 5-megapixel rear camera and basic front-facer for video chat.
Initially appearing on the TalkTalk network in December, the Ascend G330 will be free on a £10 a month contract. The emphasis is firmly on entertainment, with BBC's iPlayer and the EA Games app coming pre-installed.
We've had a quick play with the Ascend G330 and so far we're enjoying it. After all, this is the follow-up to the excellent Ascend G300, which was runner-up for our value smartphone award this year. The 4-inch screen is certainly a great way to enjoy movies, photos and web browsing on the cheap, proving more than sharp enough for a catch up of The Apprentice.
The phone itself is a little chunky but well put-together, feeling both solid and durable. The rubbery rear is soft to the touch and helps you to keep a good grip one-handed. Prise open the back and you'll find a removeable battery, SIM card slot and also a memory card slot to expand the basic 2GB of built-in storage (a must if you're planning on downloading apps, games and media).
