New network gives profits to charity

The People's Operator will donate 25% of all profits to good causes across the UK
New operator ‘The People’s Operator’ launched this morning, promising to donate 25% of profits to good causes across the UK. Currently offering Pay As You Go (PAYG) deals to British consumers, The People’s Operator (TPO) also allows you to give 10% of call, text and data spends direct to the charity of your choosing, at no extra cost to yourself.
TPO operates on the freshly launched EE network, and while currently only offering PAYG deals, plans to expand into contracts (complete with a full range of handsets) and SIM-only deals very early next year. The PAYG rates are competitive compared to other networks for calls and texts, and offers free calls and texts to other TPO users, although data prices are currently high (12.5p per MB or £17.50 for a 500MB monthly bundle), but TPO says that the contracts will offer more competitive deals. It’s also hoping to expand into 4G soon.
TPO’s press conference, which featured a guest speech from ChildLine founder Esther Rantzen, highlighted how its network is a business driven by profit, but for the benefit of communities across the country. There are no high street stores, but you can browse the deals and purchase a SIM through TPO’s website
