iOS 6.0.1 rolls out

We heard it was being tested, so it is no surprise to see a rollout of iOS 6.0.1.

It isn't a radical step up, this is all about performance improvements and bug fixes. First up, we're talking about a bug that stops the iPhone 5 from installing software updates wirelessly over the air. To do that, iPhone 5 owners have to download an updater app to get the latest update.

The new version of Apple's OS also fixes a bug where horizontal lines might appear across the keyboard, as well as an issue that could stop the camera flash from going off. There is better reliability when connecting to Wi-Fi, the end of a problem relating to connections to data networks and the death of a bug that sometimes allows access to Passbook pass details from a locked screen.

The entire update is around 35MB in size and is likely to be the last update before the arrival of iOS 6.1, which is already being developed. Hopefully that update will contain the much-anticipated enhancements to Apple Maps, which disappointingly, don't get a look in as part of this update.
