Samsung Galaxy Note 7 rumoured

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 rumoured
Could be a challenger to the iPad mini and Nexus 7

Seems like the hottest device in town right now is the 7-inch tablet, with everyone rushing to get a piece of the action. The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 could also be a contender - if that's what it is.

File very much under 'rumour' right now, but it's a rumour that is gradually picking up momentum. The speculation for a 7-inch tablet (or phablet) comes from two devices passed by the DLNA Alliance, which tests how gadgets work with other networked devices.

Those devices are the GT-N5100/N5110, with the GT-N prefix used previously for past Note devices, specifically the Galaxy Note II and the Note 10.1. Details from those listings give little away, but they do hint at a 7-inch Note, filling an obvious gap in the Samsung range.

Whether these are tablets or very large smartphones isn't yet clear, but when the devices clear the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) as they inevitably will, that should explain just what the devices do and the basic make-up of each one.

Right now, it looks like we're talking tablets, with one a Wi-Fi only model, and the other throwing in mobile data connectivity, both likely to use that trademark 'pen'. We wouldn't be surprised to see a major leak for this soon - and possibly a pre-Christmas launch.
