Nexus 4 confirmed by Google

You could be forgiven for thinking this has been launched some weeks back in light of the avalanche of leaks. But no, the Nexus 4 has only just been made official.

In truth, we didn't expect to see the Nexus 4's debut in light of Google cancelling its Android event. Obviously both hardware and schedules have been made, as well as deals with networks and stores. So a launch has gone ahead regardless, albeit without the fanfare of a big stage launch.

It is nice to see the official images at last rather than blurred images. But everything else has a rather familiar look to it. So confirmed for the LG-made phone is a 4.7-inch True HD IPS Plus display with 1,280 x 768 resolution and Gorilla Glass 2, a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro dual-core processor, 2GB RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera plus 1.3-megapixel front camera, along with Android 4.2, which you can read all about here and a choice of 8GB or 16GB for storage. It measures 133.9 x 68.9 x 9.1mm and weighs an around 139g.

If you want one, there's a little wait until 13 November before it goes on sale, when it will be offered SIM-free at Google Play for £239 (8GB) or £279 (16GB). You'll have to wait for it to hit the stores and networks until the end of November, with a leak indicating Carphone Warehouse will be one of those sellers.
