Three rolls out Jelly Bean for Samsung Galaxy S III
Other network updates to follow in weeks

If you happen to have picked up the Samsung Galaxy S III on the Three network, a pleasant surprise awaits you. An upgrade to Android Jelly Bean.

Three has confirmed that the update is now rolling out, so expect a notification when you switch on your phone this morning. Alternatively, check software update in your settings menu to see if it is available for your handset. If it comes up in the search for an update, you can download it there by following the instructions.

It's something of an exclusive for the network in the UK, but not really for long. Samsung has confirmed that the update will be more universal in the 'coming weeks'.

In a statement, it said: 'Samsung UK can confirm that the roll out of Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) has begun,' adding that it 'will be available across all networks over the coming weeks, pending software testing and approvals.'

So all being well, the update to the latest version of Android should be complete by the end of November. That's unless Google launches another update of Android at its event at the end of this month. That is a possibility. At which point, we'll be into yet another update cycle. But let's not think about that now, we'll stick to the good news story. If you want to know what Jelly Bean offers, check out out review of the operating system here.
