HTC One X to get Jelly Bean upgrade
21 Sep 2012
Rollout should start in October for SIM-free handsets
The phone was highly rated by us when we got our hands on it earlier this year, but could be superseded by the HTC One X+ in the near future. But the One X is fighting back – with an Android update.
Yes, the One X is getting Jelly Bean. Or at least, that's what the Modaco site claims. According to its source, HTC plans to roll out the update for the One X to SIM-free phones from October. That will be followed by the networks, which will obviously take longer.
Saying that, HTC plans to have all phones updated by Christmas, so there shouldn't be too many delays once the rollout starts. The rumoured X+ will ship with Jelly Bean out of the box, if you prefer to upgrade your handset. Although it's not clear just when that will arrive. If you get the Android update first, you might not too bothered.
If you want to shop around for a cheap deal on the One X with one eye on that upgrade, you can read our review of the phone here.
