Another week, another launch. This time the spotlight is on LG, which has just unveiled its latest flagship phone in Korea, going by the name of the Optimus G. Yes, the one previewed as far back as August. On the face of it, the Optimus G is a pretty impressive piece of kit and not short of good looks either. It isn't quite as thin as an iPhone 5, but at 8.45mm, it's hardly chunky. An all-glass front and a back with LG's Crystal Reflection process for different patterns depending on your viewing angle should only add to the appeal.Packed inside that sleek unibody shell is a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, LTE connectivity, 2GB of RAM and a 4.7-inch 1280x768 True HD IPS PLUS display with Zerogap Touch technology. On top of that, there is a substantial 13-megapixel camera with auto-focus and LED flash, a 1.3-megapixel camera for networking, 32GB of built-in storage (but no microSD slot), a 2100mAh Li-polymer battery, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS and NFC connectivity.Disappointingly, the phone is launching with Ice Cream Sandwich for the operating system. Yes, months after the operating system went public, it seems that manufacturers still can't get phones out with Jelly Bean pre-installed. A stark contrast to Apple's swift rollout of iOS 6.LG is also talking up what is describes as 'Cross-Tasking', which is essentially doing two things at once on the handset. So, for example, with its QSlide Function, you can see two different screens simultaneously on one display. Texting while browsing, if you want to do that. Be interesting to see that one in action.Talking of seeing it in action, if you are in Korea, you can get your hands on one from next week. For the UK, things are a little more complex. This is a 4G phone as it stands, so could be one of the first EE 4G phones if that network likes the look of it. Alternatively, a 4G-free version could be produced for the UK market.Time will tell. As soon as we hear those UK plans, we'll let you know. Hopefully we can get a hands-on with the phone ahead of any launch too.
