Nokia Lumia 920 likely to sell from November

It launched last week, with Nokia offering us the chance to get up close with the flagship Windows Phone 8 smartphone soon after. One detail was missing though - just when is the Nokia Lumia 920 going on sale?

We still don't know for sure, but we can now give a pretty educated guess. According to Reuters, the phone will sell from November, based on information gleaned from a 'European telecoms operator'.

That about sounds right. Obviously the phone was never going to land before the release of Windows 8, although there is probably a bit of disappointment that Nokia hasn't scheduled the launch to coincide with the new Windows software in October.

It does give Nokia an ideal platform to work the busy festive season though. With pricing at a premium, the Nokia and network staff will need to work too. The same leak claims that the Lumia 920 will be 'priced similar' to Samsung's Galaxy S III. Which means those phone staff will have to sell it purely on hardware and software strength rather than on price. Always a tough job.

That job is likely to be even more difficult with a new iPhone on the market too. That is almost certain to launch this week and be in the shops by October. Add to that the plethora of new Androids and Nokia will not find the Christmas market easy.

No news on an exact date, although it is said that 'larger countries' will get it early in the month, other territories later. Not sure where we stand on that, but we would hope to be in the first batch. In the meantime, check out our hands-on with the Lumia 920 to see if it's the phone for you.
