HTC Flyer 2 could launch soon
Android tablet is likely to be a budget Nexus 7 rival

We heard that HTC had a tablet in the pipeline, but now there's a specification doing the rounds, via an anaonymous tipster. If correct, it could be a big player in the growing budget market.

It is said to be the HTC Flyer 2, but very different to the original Flyer, which chased after the premium market. This one should pack a seven-inch screen with a resolution of 1280x768 pixels and be housed in an anodised aluminium body that's around 7.1mm thick.

Other details offered so far include a 28nm Snapdragon S4 chip, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for the OS and both a three-megapixel rear and a one-megapixel front-facing camera. It should have a version of Sense for the interface too and is likely to be taking on the Google Nexus 7 and the recently-launched Kindle Fire range in terms of price.

HTC has an event coming up on 19 September, so there's an outside chance of a launch there, although that's expected to be a Windows Phone 8 showcase rather than Android. But with so much detail out there, you suspect a launch isn't long off.
