Three won't offer 4G internet until 2013

Three will provide 4G services from 2013, rather than this year like fellow 4G-band-owners Everything Everywhere, who were told by the European Commission to divest some of their 4G bandwith to the UK's smallest operator.

Three will have Samsung's network solution arm deploying the base stations that will form the trunk of its 4G network.

Trials will begin this year, with full roll-out and tariff plans commencing next year.

“Three’s customers will start benefitting from this investment in our core network early next year and those benefits will grow further as we deploy new spectrum,” said Dave Dyson, CEO of Three UK.

However, it's still up in the air when 4G will actually arrive for consumers. Though Ofcom has given the green light for the 1800MHz bandwidth to used for 4G signal from September 11, Everything Everywhere hasn't yet announced exactly when it will begin offering 4G services other than 'later this year'.
