Virgin Media launches £5 SIM
21 Aug 2012
Students get extra 15% off monthly bill
If like us you've spent your last penny, and several you never had, on festivals, holidays and other accoutrements of summer, Virgin Media has your number with the launch of its new £5 SIM-only deal.
It's exclusively for Virgin Media users already on its landline, broadband and TV services, but existing mobile customers won't be able to switch in.
For £5 per month, the MVNO is offering unlimited calls to other Virgin mobiles, unlimited texts plus 100 any network minutes. You'll also be able to make free calls to Virgin mobiles from your Virgin landline.
BlackBerry owners wanting in will have to pay the usual £5 bump on any tariff for access to the BlackBerry server. This £10 SIM-only deal offers 100 any network minutes, unlimited Virgin mobile calls and texts, plus 500MB data, unlimited BlackBerry email and BlackBerry Messenger (BBM).
Both contracts are on a 30-day rolling basis. And if you're a student, just note your NUS card details and you'll get an extra 15% off your monthly bill.
