Sony Xperia SL goes official
Ice Cream Sandwich phone with 1.7GHz dual-core processor

It was first seen at the start of August, and now, as we approach the end of the month, Sony has made the Xperia SL smartphone official.

Well, actually it's a semi-official launch, with Sony posting Xperia SL photos and specifications on its website ahead of the big unveil, which is expected to be at the IFA event in a week or so. That's likely to be when we'll find out about availability and possibly UK networks.

But we'll work with the details we have now, which tell us what we want to know about the phone itself. As expected from the leaks, the phone packs a 1.7GHz Qualcomm MSM8260 dual-core processor, Ice Cream Sandwich for the operating system, a 4.3-inch TFT screen with a 1280x720 resolution and a 12.1-megapixel camera with auto-focus, 16x digital zoom and LED flash. It comes in a choice of colours (black, white, silver, and pink) and is sized around 128x64x10.6mm.

We'll be attending the official Sony press conference over in Berlin next Wednesday, so will bring you the full skinny as soon as we hear it!
