APP WATCH: Sky+ for iPad gets an update

Of course, you already have a remote control for your Sky system, albeit one with severely battered buttons from overuse. But if you really want to show off, get the latest update to Sky+ for iPad, which turns your tablet into the mother of all remotes.

That's essentially the big news here for this update, with the latest version of Sky+ allowing you to pause, rewind and play TV channels, as well as search through the listings for future favourites to record.

The update also brings a redesigned TV guide for that browsing, along with new genre tabs, should you want to go straight to the sport this weekend. There is one downside to all this though. Your iPad and your Sky box must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. So if you haven't already hooked up your Sky box to the router, it might be worth doing it now. You'll also need the latest Sky Guide, which has been rolling out of late.

That's not the end of the story either for this app. Second-screen interaction and discussion is coming, courtesy of zeebox, which is now part-owned by Sky. Expect to see that later this year, all being well.
