Smartphone strategy under review for Panasonic
We tested its mettle as a water resistant device, and nominated it in our longlists for the Mobile Choice Consumer Awards 2012 – but now it seems the Panasonic Eluga may not make it to UK shores after all.
Our sister magazine Mobile is reporting that the Japanese manufacturer has no current plans to launch the Eluga outside Germany and Italy, where the super-slender Android Gingerbread smartphone is already on the market.
A Panasonic spokesperson said: 'As part of sound business practice, Panasonic continually reviews and develops its market plans and product offerings to ensure the fit is right for both its customers and the business. Panasonic markets the Eluga smartphone to consumers in Germany and Italy and does currently not have any plans to change this.
'Any further plans for the smartphone market are yet to be confirmed and at this stage, we have nothing further to report.'
