Mobile Wi-Fi with the O2 Pocket Hotspot
03 Aug 2012
MiFi device allows you to share a connection anywhere
The likes of Three and Vodafone already have similar gadgets on the market, but if your preferred network is O2, the Pocket Hotspot will now allow you to share some network love.
According to O2, you can connect up to five devices to the web simultaneously, including smartphones, tablets and laptops, with maximum download speeds of 21.6Mbps, and upload speeds of 5.76Mbps. Obviously that's very much dependent on where you are – if there's a stronger O2 3G signal in the area, you'll get faster speeds.
Pricing varies depending on which option you go for. If you opt for pay-as-you-go, you can pay £2.04 per day for 200MB of data access. Alternatively, you can get 1GB or 2GB data for the month for £10.21 or £15.32, depending on the option you choose. O2 will also double your data allowance on your first and every third top-up, which is a nice bonus.
Both options still require you to purchase the device, which retails for £59.99. Probably worth checking out the current Three and Vodafone rates too, before you sign on the line.
