Samsung confirms Unpacked launch event this month
03 Aug 2012
Galaxy Note 2 will be the star of the show
It turns out that the rumours were almost right, with Samsung now confirming an Unpacked launch event for this month.
The date is slightly different to what we were led to believe, with Samsung hosting a separate Unpacked showcase separately from the rest of its launches at the IFA event. That event is on 29 August.
As for the big launch, well we expected the Galaxy Note 2 to be the main focus and it looks like we will be right. In a separate development, Reuters quotes a spokesperson as saying: 'We plan to unveil the next Galaxy Note at the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event in Berlin on 29 August,' which is about as clear as it gets.
Samsung had already dropped a clue into the invite, with a stylus looking very much like a wand in the main invite image. But just in case that was a little too subtle, official confirmation has cleared it all up.
When it does launch, the Note 2 is expected to feature a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and a quad-core Exynos processor. There's also talk of a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera too. Whether that's true will be revealed in about three weeks or so. You'll hear it first here, as ever.
