We saw the phone make its debut back in May, but since then, not a lot has been heard about the Samsung Omnia M. Until today, that is.The Windows 7.5 handset is available at Phones 4u two months ahead of any other retailer. Although we're not sure how many retailers will take up the phone in two months time, being so close to the Windows 8 launch. In fact, you do wonder how much demand there will be for this handset, bearing in mind the issues of updating from the current Windows 7 platform to the new Windows 8. But if you want a Windows Phone now, this could be the phone to have – and at the right price. As we mentioned previously, this isn't a massive step up from the previous Omnia 7, but it does everything just a little bit better. In this instance, you get Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, a four-inch Super AMOLED display and a 1GHz processor in a 10.5mm thick/thin smartphone. There's also a five-megapixel camera with auto-focus and flash, a front-facing VGA for video calls, along with Wi-Fi and HSDPA connectivity.Plenty of Samsung additions too, including its ChatON messaging app, support for the cloud-based Family Story sharing service and AllShare, which allows you to play any films, music and games downloaded on the Omnia M directly to a compatible TV.The retailer is certainly excited, with Scott Hooton, CCO at Phones 4u, saying: 'We are delighted to exclusively offer the Samsung Omnia M, Samsung's latest handset running Windows 7.5, two months before it will be available via any other UK retailer. Our track record of launching Samsung devices and Windows Phones is incredibly strong and our dedicated Samsung zones in our Oxford Street and Westfield London stores provide the ultimate destination for anyone wanting to buy this Samsung device with Windows Phone. Our retail team is extensively trained on, and passionate about all Samsung products.'Price-wise, it is available for free on contracts starting from £20.50 per month or SIM-free for £289.95. The shelf date is 1 August.
