Asus confirms Jelly Bean update for tablets
Transformer Pad, Transformer Pad Prime and Transformer Pad Infinity to get latest Android iteration

Asus, you would suspect, has a better insight than most when it comes to Jelly Bean. After all, this was the company that built the first Jelly Bean tablet, the recently-launched Google Nexus 7. So it's no surprise to see the company quick off the mark with upgrades for its own tablet range.

In a statement, it said: 'We are pleased to announce that we will be updating many of our tablet products to Android 4.1, Jelly Bean. The Asus Transformer Pad, Asus Transformer Pad Prime and Asus Transformer Pad Infinity are all scheduled to receive an update to Jelly Bean in the coming months.

'We are still investigating Jelly Bean updates for other devices, but we are not in a position to confirm whether any other products will be eligible for an update at the moment.'

So if you own any of those three tablets, you can start the week with a smile on your face. Although it still sounds like it will be sometime before you can celebrate the arrival of Jelly Bean – months rather than weeks.

For anyone owning a tablet not mentioned, it doesn't sounds hopeless just yet, but you would imagine that updates for other devices will be much further down the line. If indeed they are coming at all.
