Good news for owners of the Nexus S smartphone – you have an upgrade waiting for your handset. That upgrade is, of course, the Jelly Bean version of Android. A highly rated phone back in the day (that 'day' being 2010), it has managed to keep itself current by benefitting from Jelly Bean, which you can read all about here. We describe it as 'a smooth and successful spit-shine to an already excellent OS', so this is well worth downloading.Google confirmed the upgrade on Google+, saying: 'We've started rolling out Android 4.1, Jelly Bean, to Nexus S phones on a number of carriers including T-Mobile, H3G, O2, Rogers as well as Vodafone in most countries, with more to come.'It hopefully includes your phone. If it does, the upgrade is available as an over-the-air update. Once again, it shows why going for the official Google phones is a wise move. This upgrade is likely to be well ahead of any more recent third-party phone upgrades and brings new life to a handset that might otherwise have been reaching its sell-by date.
Other handsets will follow over the coming weeks and months. We will keep you posted as and when we hear anything about specific models.
