Mixed messages when it comes to the Android upgrade of the HTC Desire HD. But it now looks like it should be a good news story.Yesterday, we heard that HTC was dropping plans for an update due to 'poor performance during testing'. That was based on a leaked document originating from Canadian mobile operator Telus and at the time, we thought that was the end of the story and perhaps, the end of the road for the Desire HD.But obviously HTC has been monitoring this story and has now come out with a denial of that original report. In a statement, it said: 'We remain committed to providing customers with the latest software updates when possible. As such, we are pleased to confirm we are still on schedule to deliver an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for both the HTC Desire HD and Desire S.'That's interesting because it also confirms that the Desire S will be getting the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade. However, there are no dates offered right now regarding the update. With Jelly Bean being the current version of Android, an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich might seem less relevant if it doesn't arrive in the next couple of months. But at least it's something – and should hopefully see you through until an upgrade is available on your contract.
