No ICS for HTC Desire HD

The phone first appeared in the middle of 2011 and was rated highly 'back in the day'. But time moves on. Sadly, for the HTC Desire HD, so does technology.

It now seems that HTC has dropped plans to bring Ice Cream Sandwich to the smartphone. A document from Canadian mobile operator Telus said: 'HTC has [cancelled] the HTC Desire HD ICS upgrade due to poor device performance during testing.'

No more specifics were offered, so we don't know why the performance was 'poor'. On the face of it, the phone should be capable of running Ice Cream Sandwich, packing a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and 768MB of RAM, but that's obviously not the case. So if you have the phone, you'll be looking at Android 2.3 Gingerbread for the rest of its life.

Or until your next upgrade is due, at the very least.
