Chinese manufacturer ZTE has launched a new £49.99 smartphone, also available on £7 per month contracts. The ZTE Kis runs Android Gingerbread and boasts all the functionality of more expensive smartphones, for the price of a round in a London pub - making the Kis the 'best value' smartphone you can buy.
With a 3.5-inch TFT touch-screen, the ZTE Kis is a compact device that's 11.5mm thick and weighs just 120g. An 800MHz processor should provide basic performance for your apps, backed up by just 256MB of RAM – so don't expect to do much gaming. However, you should be able to comfortably browse the web, email and enjoy your media – impressive for such a low-cost mobile.
ZTE has cut back on internal storage too, but a microSD slot means you can upgrade up to 32GB, plenty of space for your music and photos, and ZTE has generously included a 2GB card to get you started.
Rounding off the specs is a 3.2-megapixel camera with auto-focus, along with the usual Wi-Fi and GPS support.
The ZTE Kis is available from tomorrow, from Virgin Media.
