Microsoft and Nokia to launch educational apps

Preschool games exclusive to Nokia Lumia phones
Parent with a Windows Phone and an inquisitive toddler? Microsoft is going into the preschool game with educational apps built for Nokia Lumia phones.
The two tech giants are collaborating with Genius Brands, developer of the Baby Genius range of music and education toys and characters, to make exclusive apps for the Lumia 610, 710, 800 and 900.
The first two in its Ready, Play, Learn series use music and 'Sing'n'Play Pals' to help children learn (and sing and play, presumably). Your little rugrats will be able to talk to animated avatars, as well as sing along with them in duets that can be played back instantly.
And of course, you can then post the results on your own Facebook wall for proof of your prodigy's talent.
Nokia will market the apps in its recommendation section from this summer, with the next two apps scheduled for the last quarter of 2012.
Nokia head of business development for global partners Chris Surowiec said: 'Parents want to be confident being their young children’s first teacher and Baby Genius content delivers on that promise.'
And if you were planning to buy one of those new Windows Phone 8 devices, worry not – WP7 apps are supported on the new OS.
