ZTE Grand X readied for launch
Phone formerly known as Mimosa X lined up for UK launch in late summer

Back in February, at the MWC event, ZTE showed off the Mimosa X smartphone, talking up a shelf date of summer 2012. Well, it could yet make it to the UK this summer, but under a new name of the ZTE Grand X.

The phone has been officially unveiled in Turkey, but has been confirmed for the UK and the US too. The UK will be getting the 3G version, with a 4G model heading to the US (along with a different processor).

If the price is right (and it should be), the Grand X could be a competitor too. The smartphone packs a dual-core Tegra 2 processor, a 4.3-inch qHD display, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for the OS, five-megapixel camera and a front-facing networking camera.

The Grand X is one of the series of Grand smartphones coming from ZTE, as it bids to make its presence felt in worldwide markets. The date for the Grand X is now down for the third quarter of 2012 and it will be priced as a mid-range handset. As soon as we get firmer details from the networks about the Grand X, we'll let you know the bottom line.
