Good news for owners of the Sony Xperia S, with the smartphone finally getting the Ice Cream Sandwich update and a few other added extras.Sony has confirmed that the update has started rolling out this week, although it might take a few weeks to work its way through all devices. As ever, if you are on a contract, the network checking might push things back even further. But this is a good news story, despite the staged rollout. Even more so because Sony has taken the opportunity to update its own functionality too. Specifically, that means updates to music, photo and video apps or 'Walkman', 'Album' and 'Movies' if you like. The Walkman application has gone social, making it easier to share and discover what your friends are currently listening to. Discover something interesting and you can fire the details to Facebook or find out background details via a fan page. You can also access album and artist imagery using Gracenote.Photos will get speedier browsing with the new app and again, improved Facebook functionality. As for movies, they have got a bump up in quality, both audio and visuals, with the option to access posters and background information for your chosen flicks. All part of the update and all rolling out over the coming weeks.
