Samsung to roll out Ice Cream Sandwich to Tab devices

It has been expected for some time, but the Ice Cream Sandwich update for Samsung's current generation of Tab devices has so far avoided making an appearance. Until now, that is.

According to the SamMobile site, the updates for tablets will kick off next month. The devices in question are the Galaxy Tab 7.7, 8.9 and 10.1, but it will take time for the rollout to be completed, with most updates actually being pushed out in August.

The updates will offer all of the benefits of the Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, but are also said to improve both battery life and the speed of your tablet too. Which has to be a good thing.

Most of the devices have probably been sold outside of the networks, so the updates should be offered as soon as they become available for this country. But if you do have one on a contract, prepare yourself for the usual wait. Worth the wait though, especially if the upgrade gives your tablet a new lease of life.
