Alleged shots of Google Nexus tablet emerge

You know what this is? It's the new Google tablet, also known as the Google Nexus. At least, that's what it claims to be.

These press shots have been sent to the Phone Arena site, with the seven-inch tablet sporting a white front and a contrasting two tone black rear with both Google and Asus branding. Asus is the company confirmed as making the tablet.

It could be a mock up, but it ticks a lot of boxes, showing 'a full suite of sensors' as well as a video chat camera on the front, plus a huge circle on the back, likely to be a rear camera.

The person behind the images also offered some 'confirmed' detail on the inner workings too, which are said to include a quad-core Tegra 3 processor, 1GB of RAM and Android 4.1 for the operating system.

That means no Android 5.0 Jelly Bean at launch, but it will mean new features for the tablet, along with a familiar Android interface. It looks like Android 5.0 is still some time off, but we would expect an upgrade further down the line.

Of course, this could be a false trail, but it does mirror much of what we have heard before. We'll find out this month, with the tablet likely to be selling from July.
