ICS update for Samsung Galaxy S II confirmed on Orange and T-Mobile

All the other networks have sorted it out, with Samsung even pushing out the update to SIM-free owners too. But finally it looks like the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Samsung Galaxy S II will arrive this weekend.

At least, that's what we hope. The two networks, now joined together as Everything Everywhere, have been dragging their feet a little with this one, but in a statement, they said: 'We've been working closely with Samsung on this, and we can confirm that we will be rolling out the ICS update for Samsung Galaxy S II from 22 April.'

Quite why it took longer than all the other networks isn't clear. Maybe staff holidays over easter, different working practices, who knows. But it should be rolling out from this weekend, completing that rather lengthy upgrade period. Let's hope other phone upgrades are a little quicker and more consistent.

All of that should mean you get the likes of the new Face Unlock function, a redesigned menu system, data usage monitor, new camera functions and other general improvements by the start of the week. Should you choose to update, obviously.
