Vodafone confirms Samsung Galaxy S II ICS update

Good news for owners of the Samsung Galaxy S II on the Vodafone network – you'll soon have the option of a new Android operating system.

Vodafone has confirmed that the Ice Cream Sandwich rollout will finally hit its Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone from tomorrow. 'The ICS update has passed our testing and will be released over the air and via Kies on 12 April,' said the company.

That's no surprise really. As we mentioned last week, Samsung is pushing hard to get the network updates through. O2 and Three have already sorted out updates for their respective customers, but we're still waiting for Orange and T-Mobile to confirm a date. That delay also means no sign of the update for SIM-free customers, who are being forced to wait until all the networks offer the updated operating system.

But it is good news for Vodafone customers, who will effeectively have a new phone to play with from 12 April. If that's you, there's no specific time given for the download being made available, just keep checking your phone for updates from tomorrow and hopefully it will arrive sooner rather than later.
