Since its launch on Thursday of last week, the latest instalment of Angry Birds has proved to be out of this world, literally. The game's developers Rovio are claiming that Angry Birds Space had 10 million downloads in less than three days, cheekily comparing its success to the new iPad, which only shifted three million units during its first three days on the shelves.
Late last year the brand hit a milestone as half a billion downloads were chalked up across all platforms, and whereas some of the versions have been very similar, Angry Birds Space takes the characters to a whole new level. The premise is the same as in the original app - catapult birds at thieving pigs - but with Space, you've got to contend with varying levels of gravitational pull, which can prove mindbending on the harder levels.
Angry Birds Space is available for iOS and Android as well as for PC and Mac here. As we told you yesterday, Windows Phone users can also expect to see for WP7 but a launch date is yet to be announced.
