Ice Cream Sandwich rolls out to HTC Sensation range

We mentioned that the Ice Cream Sandwich rollout from HTC would kick off in March, starting with the HTC Sensation and HTC Sensation XE. Well, it looks like HTC has kept to its word.

The rollout looks to have begun for owners of those phones in selected territories, initially in the 'Nordic' countries, which should equate to Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. Presumably the limited rollout is a toe in the water for HTC, which is rolling out both Ice Cream Sandwich and Sense 3.6 to those countries. It's a hefty file though, coming in at 283.27MB.

Anyone else getting it? That's not entirely clear right now. According to the Recombu site, there are reports coming out of Germany that the update has landed there too, but that's not been officially announced (as opposed to that Nordic rollout). The official line from HTC right now is that 'broader availability will come later this month'.

So us Brits will just have to wait a little longer. Not too much longer though, as we're already well into March. The bigger delay is likely to come for any network customers, as all the major UK phone networks will want to test such a significant upgrade in detail before rolling it out to customers. That could add a number of weeks onto the entire process. But if you went for an unlocked phone, keep checking that update screen.
