Well, it had to happen eventually – the brightly coloured avians are taking over the world, starting with Finland. Angry Birds Land is the first theme park based on the Angry Birds app, opening in Tampere, Finland this summer. Apparently it promises an 'interactive entertainment experience' where 'the physical and the virtual world combine'. Presumably you don't get to catapult live birds at a tower of pigs, though.
Rovio, the company behind Angry Birds, has generated £70 million in revenue in just two years and has expanded the Angry Birds franchise with cook books, themed adventure playgrounds, a cartoon on Nickelodeon and merchandise galore. With aspirations for world domination (potentially), Angry Birds Land will be 'the first of several Angry Birds parks around the world' with the goal being 'to motivate the fans, both adults and children, to exercise and enjoy the outdoors'. And presumably make a ***-load of cash.
Angry Birds Land will include many different elements such as rides and amusement park games, including 'Magic Places', where the physical and the virtual gaming worlds meet. We reckon the Rovio dudes just need another gold Scrooge McDuck vat of money to swim around in.
