The MWC might be at an end, but there are still a few questions unanswered. Like, for example, when all this lovely new hardware is going to be sat on the shelves of retailers. When it comes to the LG Optimus 4X HD, we just might have had an answer. The retailers of unlocked phones are always a good indicator for shelf dates and Clove might just have given the game away with this particular phone. LG's flagship phone is set to be released in June 2012, which fits in well with the estimated European date of the second quarter of 2012. No contracts here though, you'll need to buy one outright. This will set you back £456, once you factor in that dreaded VAT. If that doesn't appeal, hang on for the contract deals, which should be revealed well ahead of that date.As for the phone, it was launched just last week, with our team getting hands on with it at this week's MWC event. If you missed it, the phone offers a 'HD multimedia experience' via a large 4.7-inch (1280x720) True HD IPS display, assisted by the Nvidia Tegra 3 1.5GHz quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM. You'll also find 16GB of storage, a 2150mAh battery, an eight-megapixel BSI (Backside Illumination) camera with LED flash, a 1.3-megapixel networking camera and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for the operating system. All slipping effortlessly into a case with a depth of just 8.9mm.As a quad-core phone, we expect the contracts to be on the high side, but we will confirm those as soon as we hear the official details from the networks.
