Previewing the Android Gingerbread mid-ranger
Huawei's Ascend D Quad was the wow factor of its Android range unveiled here at Mobile World Congress, but if you're after less power than an Nvidia quad (plus one more) core Tegra 3, peep the Honor, a mid-ranger that nonetheless looked and felt mighty capable.

The Honor packs a 1.4GHz processor and runs on Android Gingerbread, upgradeable to Ice Cream Sandwich in the summer.

Like its more powerful D Quad brother, the Honor feels really light, almost flimsy, though its rubber back is almost downy, adding some much-needed heft to its feel in the hand.

There's a light Huawei overlay on the Gingerbread OS, with stylised icons and widgets. An eight-megapixel camera is an impressive addition to the spec lineup.
