APP WATCH: Adobe Photoshop Touch launches for iPad

It might not quite have the clout of the desktop application, but Adobe Photoshop Touch, which launched last year for Android devices, is still an impressive mobile app. There's another big selling point too – the price of this new iPad app is just a fraction of the price of the full-sized product.

Actually, the 'iPad' launch isn't strictly true. This is only available for the iPad 2 and devices running iOS 5. Sorry if that discounts your iPad. But if you do have a second-generation iPad, read on, especially if you love tinkering with your images and sharing the results with friends and family.

In fact, if you are a casual Photoshop user, you'll find all basics you use regularly right here, but with a tablet 'twist', such as layers, selection tools, adjustments  and filters for example. Other features of note include the option to use your iPad camera to fill an area on a layer with the 'Unique Camera Fill' feature, the ability to choose part of an image to extract by scribbling with the Scribble Selection tool, and with Refine Edge you can use your fingertip to capture even 'hard-to-select' image elements, like hair, for example.

If that's not enough, Adobe Photoshop Touch allows you to search and acquire images with the integrated Google Image Search, share images on Facebook (and view comments) from within the app, check out tutorials to learn some Photoshop skills, use AirPrint for wireless printing of Photoshop Touch projects and upload projects to Adobe Creative Cloud and open layered files from Adobe Photoshop Touch in Photoshop CS5.

All of that is available now for £6.99.
