Panasonic is muscling its way back into the smartphone market with the Panasonic Eluga, one of the lightest Android phones around at just 103g. The Eluga is impressively slim yet packs a 4.3-inch qHD screen and tons of great features.
A 1GHz dual-core processor should make short work of Android 2.3 (apparently to be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich in summer), while an 8MP camera has also been crammed into the slender body. That pretty face hasn't been marred with physical buttons - the controls are all on-screen to keep things neat and attractive.
NFC compatibility is also built in, and outdoor lovers will be impressed by the Panasonic Eluga's ruggedness. We reckon it's the phone equivalent of Tom Cruise - it may look dainty, but the Eluga can withstand an unceremonious trip into a toilet bowl or a full-on dust storm, even shaking off being submerged in water for half an hour.
Expect to see the Panasonic Eluga around Springtime in the UK, with prices yet to be announced. We're hoping to squeeze and caress it at Mobile World Congress next week, so check back for a full hands-on.
