We did hear 'early March' as a recent rumour, but now the more specific date of 7 March is being given as the day the iPad 3 officially appears. That's according to the iMore site and 'sources who have been reliable in the past'. So if you don't want to miss a second of the big launch, perhaps scribble that particular Wednesday in your diary. But if it's a paper diary, maybe do it in pencil. Just in case. It does fit in well with that previous rumour though and Wednesdays are Apple's preferred day of the week for launches. As for the device itself, well that's starting to take shape from the myriad of rumours that have been swimming around for some time. It's looking very much like a quad-core chip will be in Apple's new tablet, with a 2048×1536 Retina display also heavily-rumoured. Some shots of the back of the device also hint at a bigger battery and a more powerful camera.Sadly, one of the other expected improvements isn't going to impact on us UK buyers. A report in the Wall Street Journal claims Apple will launch a 4G-friendly model of the new iPad, to be sold by the big US networks. Obviously that's not going to be coming here, with 4G still very much in the testing phase in the UK.All should be revealed soon, with that date likely to be confirmed in the next couple of weeks as the press invites go out.
