Acer CloudMobile breaks cover

Acer has effectively confirmed one of its new smartphones, with the Acer CloudMobile winning an iF Design Award ahead of the big launch.

Which obviously means it has something of a stylish swagger about it. Hardly surprising, as this is Acer's new flagship phone and as such, will have had everything except the kitchen sink thrown at it. The result is a slim phone (under 1cm thick) with a textured back, stainless steel frame and a gentle curve. You can see all of that in the official image on this page.

What's within that stylish exterior is somewhat less clear. It's said to be running Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), but there's no official confirmation as yet. It's also got a 4.3-inch HD display and is said to have Acer's AcerCloud software on-board, which allows for remote access to content on your desktop PC including pictures and audio content.

Not long to find out the full story though, as this will get a showcase at the upcoming MWC show at the end of the month. As for a shelf date, that's being pitched at July or August, so certainly not an imminent launch. Perhaps that's the reason why those specification details are so vague.
