Samsung Galaxy Tab 11.6 to launch?

The Samsung Galaxy S II may or may not launch at the upcoming Mobile World Congress event, but you can be assured that Samsung will have some new kit on offer at the Barcelona showcase – possibly the Samsung Galaxy Tab 11.6.

The device is simply a rumour right now, but one with a lot of weight behind it. Indeed, the Android and Me site claims to have seen it. Apparently it was a prototype tablet at the recent CES event, there to showcase the Exynos 5250 dual-core processor. When that presentation was over, photos of the tablet were deleted at the request of Samsung. Hmm....

It adds that the device has a screen larger than 10 inches and with a WXQGA (2560×1600) resolution, as well as packing that dual-core 2GHz Exynos 5250 processor and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for the operating system. The processor in question is yet to hit mass production (next quarter is quoted), but there are enough to supply and power a number of demonstration devices. It's a rumour backed up by the German site Tab Tech, which has pegged that tablet size to 11.6 inches. It has also provided the mock up on this page.

So it sounds like there's something in the story. As ever right now, not long to wait for the proof, with that trade show less than a month away. Although the availability of the new processor could mean a much longer wait for this to hit retail.
