The LOVEFiLM for iPad app is an impressive thing, but it could be in for some serious competition with the launch of Netflix in the UK.Netflix dominates movie streaming in the US, with 20 million users worldwide already. That figure should be boosted by UK customers from today. Cross-platform is the key, with Netflix ignoring the LOVEFiLM postal thing, instead focusing on movies whenever and wherever you want them. Of course, that includes your mobile devices.Check your appropriate app store for the relevant app, whether it's for your iPad, iPhone, Android device or Windows Phone handset. But make sure you read the small print for the latter two – the apps don't cover all Android and Windows mobile devices. No BlackBerry apps sadly. If you happen to be one of the lucky ones, you can try the service for free. The launch price for the UK has been set at £5.99, but there is a month's free trial. Unlimited streaming at LOVEFiLM starts at £9.99, so that's quite a saving, especially as the LOVEFiLM device reach isn't as good and the titles offered for streaming by LOVEFiLM can be a bit hit and miss. Saying that, LOVEFiLM does offer its postal service as part of that price – which is useful if your data limits don't allow you to go mad with movie streaming. At launch, Netflix will offer films and TV shows from All3Media, the BBC, CBS, 4oD, Disney, ITV, Lionsgate UK, MGM, Miramax, Momentum Pictures, NBC Universal, Paramount, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox and Viacom International. If you want to know what that means in terms of choice, give that free trial a go to compare with LOVEFiLM. As for LOVEFiLM, we wouldn't be surprised to see some kind of deal on its own streaming packages in response.
