Sony Ericsson teases HD Android device

Remember the Sony Ericsson Nozomi? It's the big Sony Ericsson smartphone launch for the first quarter of this year and said to be the first dual-core Xperia smartphone. Except it's likely to be called the Xperia Arc HD when it launches, which could be in a matter of days.

The handset has seen many unofficial leaks, but Sony Ericsson has now started a campaign of official leaks in the run up to the big CES event. Or at least, that's what we think they are. All that the company is saying is: 'Just a few more days until we can reveal some interesting news.' A big product launch, in other words.

The curved camera key, squared-off microUSB port and labelling on the images is said to be similar to the Sony Ericsson Arc S and the prominence of both the HD and the camera backs up the previously-leaked specification, which highlighted HD video capture and a 12-megapixel Exmor R camera on the new phone. All of which points to the Xperia Arc HD.

If that specification turns out to be correct, we should also see a 4.3-inch 720x1280 screen, a 12-megapixel Exmor R camera, a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and 32GB of native storage. Previous leaks also showed the phone running Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but it's very likely that we'll see Ice Cream Sandwich at launch.

That launch is very soon – and we'll have full details as soon as the smartphone is shown off officially.
