Prada Phone by LG 3.0 gets official launch

It actually broke cover yesterday, but now LG's latest fashion phone has been offiicially launched and with a slightly amended name – the Prada Phone by LG 3.0.

It is much as we anticipated, although we do now have some more meat on the bones in terms of features. As we said previously, this is an Android phone, but disappointingly, not Ice Cream Sandwich, despite the hardware looking capable of running it. That indicates a possible later upgrade from the Gingerbread it launches with, which currently runs in conjunction with a Prada-themed skin.

That hardware includes a 1GHz dual core TI OMAP4430 processor, 4.3-inch, 800x480 pixel NOVA display, 8GB of internal storage, an eight-megapixel camera with flash and 1080p HD video capture, a front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera for your networking, along with HSPA+, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity.

In terms of looks, which are certainly one of the big selling points here, we're talking a slimline handset that's just 8.5mm thick, backed with Prada's Saffiano-styled back. If that's not enough, LG will be offering up a a Prada docking station and Bluetooth headset, plus your very own Prada bag for carrying the handset. We suspect that will be mighty small. LG branding is on the phone's front and back, naturally.

LG didn't come up with details of either the price or the shelf date, but it is expected to land early in the new year and is unlikely to be cheap. Especially when you've accounted for all those add-ons.
