Once again, a mobile phone maker uses Facebook to announce its plans, this time HTC confirming which phones will receive the Ice Cream Sandwich variation of Android. Those phones, according to the official statement, are the HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation XL, HTC Sensation XE, HTC Rezound, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO Design 4G and the HTC Amaze 4G. Obviously you have probably noticed that a good number of those aren't available in the UK, but if you are the owner of the HTC Sensation, Sensation XL, Sensation XE or the Evo 3D, it's time to get the champagne on ice. Although we don't know how long it'll be on ice.The vague date for the upgrades is 'early 2012', which isn't a million miles away from the other makers confirming upgrades so far. Obviously the timescale will shift further if a mobile network is involved (due to an extra level of testing). Indeed, HTC does allude to that in the statement, saying that the upgrades will be 'through close integration with our carrier partners'.As for the rest of the HTC range, don't give up hope just yet. HTC adds: 'We're continuing to assess our product portfolio, so stay tuned for more updates on device upgrades, timing and other details about HTC and Ice Cream Sandwich.' So maybe some kind of ICS update, even with some of the features stripped back, will get to your phone eventually. We'll keep you posted on any specific dates we hear for each handset.
