Strange how perception and reality can differ so much. When the Motorola Atrix launched at CES at the start of the year, it was pitched as a genuine leap forward. Having the docking accessory, which turned your phone into a laptop, only added to excitement. Fast forward to our review in August and it was decidedly average hands-on. 'Falls short on many aspects of execution' was the final summing up. So the Motorola Atrix 2 really needs to up its game, which it seems to do in some respects. That sequel is likely to launch fairly soon, with both an image and some details appearing online, courtesy of the BGR site. In terms of specification, we're talking either a 1.2 or 1.5GHz dual-core processor, an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD video capture (up from the original 5-megapixel camera and with the added bonus of that full HD shooting) and Android Gingerbread 2.3.5 for the operating system. Looks-wise, it's not a lot removed from the original. The BGR site claims 'the next few months' for a launch date. No mention of any accessories this time. be interesting to see of Motorola is still going for the phone/laptop thing (which was the key selling point of the original) or whether it focuses more on the smartphone itself. We shouldn't have long to wait before we find out.
