Good news for social networking photographers, Instagram 2.0 is here! With over 9 million users, that could well be you. If you own an iPhone that is. Despite upgrading the iPhone app, Burbn, the company behind it, still hasn't bothered with other platforms. So apologies Android owners, this one looks like staying firmly iPhone-only for some time yet.On the face of it, the new version follows the 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' mantra, adding to what's already incredibly popular rather than starting from scratch. However, according to Wired, there is a 'complete rewrite' of the camera code here, which makes it all just so much better and faster - filters 200 times faster would you believe, switching between them almost instantly. But in terms of what really hits you, well the quality of the photos is the main thing here. Previously, pictures were at 612 x 612 pixels, but that's now been increased to 1936 x 1936 on the iPhone 4 and 1536 x 1536 on the iPhone 3GS. Significantly, in other words. On top of that, the app has four new filters to play with (Amaro, Rise, Hudson and Valencia), faster depth-of-field and selective blur, with the option to pinch, pan and rotate the tilt-shift effect, along with a live preview of how the effect will look on your images. Finally, there's now an option to remove borders, one-click rotation within the camera and perhaps less importantly, a new icon. Want it? Well, if you have an iPhone, you can go get the upgraded app now for free.
